Eat Natural recalls batches of its ‘brazil & sultana with peanuts and almonds’ bar due to possible Salmonella risk
22nd August 2020
Manufacturer of Eat Natural bars Hand2Mouth Ltd, of Halstead, Essex, is taking the precaution of recalling batches of its ‘brazil & sultana with peanuts and almonds’ bars because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious infections and sometimes have severe consequences in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. While most healthy people with Salmonella infection will not become ill, those who do display symptoms will recover in a few days without specific treatment.
The recall has come after reports of a small number of people became ill with Salmonella, some of whom had consumed an Eat Natural bar containing Brazil nuts, as well as other food items. Further investigations have identified an issue with Brazil nuts, so as a precautionary measure, the company has removed the only product they make which contains Brazil nuts, namely the ‘brazil & sultana with peanuts and almonds’
The company is working with all relevant authorities including the Food Standards Agency and retailers to ensure the product is removed from shelves immediately.
The ‘brazil & sultana bars with peanuts and almonds’ were distributed across the UK at various outlets including supermarket Tesco, high street stores including WHSmith and various wholesalers for the independent / cash & carry sector / vending sector.

Our bars are heat treated and this diminishes the likelihood of contamination, but we are taking this matter extremely seriously and taking all steps possible, even though at this stage the notification is very much a precautionary measure. This is an isolated incident related to some batches of Brazil nuts and does not affect any of our other bars or cereal products in any way. The health and safety of consumers is of utmost importance and our number one concern.”
