What about palm oil?

We use sustainable palm kernel oil in the yoghurt-flavour coating you’ll find on three of our bars. We love the coating’s unique taste and texture, and the oil plays an important part in the recipe. It contributes to the flavour profile and also has an ideal setting point that allows us to give that generous, thick coating to our bars. It took us a whole year to get the recipe just right, so our Product Development Team have their work cut out looking for a substitute. We’ll keep you posted on their work.

In the meantime, we’re doing all we can to make sure our palm kernel oil is as sustainable as possible. Our supplier, a company we’ve been working with for many years, is RSPO certified. That means they abide by the strict criteria of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, an industry body that states: no primary forests or areas which contain significant concentrations of biodiversity (e.g. endangered species) or fragile ecosystems, or areas which are fundamental to meeting basic or traditional cultural needs of local communities (high conservation value areas), can be cleared.
